I am a technology entrepreneur who was lucky enough to purchase a Montana working cattle ranch in 1995. I still work in technology in Utah but love to help our ranch manager manage the ranch and love to work at the ranch (www.ranchlife.com). I started this BLOG to give readers a glimpse of Montana ranching through the eyes of an absentee owner.

HPR 2006 Summer Staff

We are particularly pleased with the staff we have for the 2006 summer guest season. In addition to Marie and Urs who do such a wonderful job there are the following: Sherry Moseley (director, Guest Services, in her second year at the HPR); Ruth Warner (Head Cook), in her third summer season; Deven Thompson (Head Wrangler, third season --- the All-American, All-Cowboy); Corie Carnahan (Wrangler, second season --- Quiet competence; Bryant Bunnell (Wrangler, first year --- this summer's Cowboy entertainer; Cathy Carnahan (Wrangler, first year --- a Vet Tech graduate); Elin Westover (Kitchen Assistant, Ag student at Michigan State University, first year); Sean Wolfert (Maintenance, first year); Marc and Lindsay Duncan (Facilities Manager and Kitchen Assistant, respectfully. This will be Marc's 8th year at the HPR and Lindsay's second. Marc is our son who has grown up with the ranch. One of Marc's favorite jobs is to fix fence, especially high up in the forest where he finds peace and solace. And we shouldn't forget Elias Cervantes who will be irrigating this summer to ensure that we have grass for hay, while the rest of the staff and guests are moving Cows in and among approximatly 50 pastures. We also get help from Laurie Schmidlin, who provides delicious homeade bread each week, and Sherry Brown who does all the cleaning of cabins each week and treats our guests with her prize-winning pies.

We get hundreds of employment inquiries each year from all over the world. It breaks our hearts to turn down such nice and sometimes qualified people, who want so badly to work on a working cattle ranch in Montana. We wish we had jobs for everyone who likes RanchLife.

Our great staff will help our summer guests have an adventurous and safe time at the HPR this summer. We work very hard and long days and we get to know each other well.
